Rainbow Grocery Cooperative attempts to provide the widest variety of products for everyone’s shopping list. We carry the national brands you trust as well as the local, artisanal makers you’ve been searching for. From Bulk Herbs to Housewares to Vitamins and everything in between, Rainbow has what you’re looking for. And if we don’t, we’ll try our hardest to find it!

Rainbow offers a large selection of baked goods—pastries, donuts, cakes, pies, cookies, and breads—including vegan and gluten-free options. Many of our bakery and pastry items are baked and delivered fresh daily by local bakers.

The Bath & Body Department at Rainbow has an enormous selection of health and beauty products priced to fit every budget. We carry the best of both small local companies and established, trusted brands. We offer products made from the finest natural ingredients and always free of any animal testing. We offer a large selection of bulk items as well as raw materials to assist you with your DIY projects.

Our Beer, Wine, & Spirits Department tries to stay ahead of the trends while offering of a good variety of quality, affordable products from California and around the world. By offering products from local producers from the Greater Bay Area, Rainbow attempts to strengthen its commitment to supporting small manufacturers.

We are always on the look out for new producers and products so our selection is delicious, eclectic, and will excite you and your guests. Also, many of the wines we carry are vegan, organic, biodynamic, and/or produced using old world methods. If you have any questions, just ask!

Rainbow’s Books & Gifts Department offers a great selection of unusual toys, greeting cards for every occasion, stationary, journals, address books and gift wrap. As part of our commitment to provide quality information and choices, Rainbow offers an extensive selection of books relating to informed and healthy lifestyles. In addition to our many books dealing with general nutrition and health, we carry books on fasting and juicing, natural pet care, gardening as well as a wide array of cookbooks (including vegetarian, vegan, macrobiotic and Ayruvedic)

Our Bulk Foods Department is an important part of Rainbow Grocery’s mission to provide quality, affordable food that is grown with the minimum negative ecological impact. With over 800 products to choose from, you can buy a pinch or a pound of your favorite coffees, granolas, olives, nuts, flours, olive oils, miso, chocolate, rice, beans, and the list goes on.

Rainbow’s Bulk Herbs & Spices Department has one of the most comprehensive herb, spice, and tea selections in the Bay Area. We carry organically grown products whenever possible, as well as many ethically wildcrafted items from which to choose. While most of our organic products come from Washington, Oregon, and the California coast, we have an excellent section of individual herbs or specialty blends from around the world.

Rainbow’s Cheese Department has a huge selection of cheese at better prices than most grocery or cheese specialty stores. When searching for domestic, imported, organic, handmade, rennet-less, raw, goat, sheep, cow, or water buffalo, we’ve got almost any cheese you could ever want. We love cheese to the point of obsession. To compliment our local offering, we’ve got great perfectly ripened cheese from all over the world, including new types of cheese every couple of weeks. We buy only what we need so we are constantly rotating stock and keeping it ripe.

Rainbow’s Cooler & Frozen Department personally selects hundreds of items for you to try—from organic dairy products from responsible sources to an ever-expanding range of delicious vegan alternatives. We also offer an assortment of gluten-free pasta, organic and cold pressed juices, and other specialty items. We regularly stock prepared soups, salads, pastas, and spreads to make a quick meal or snack.

In our Frozen aisle, we have all the vegetables, fruits, prepared dishes, ice cream, non-dairy desserts and sorbets, and juices you could ever want!

The Housewares Department at Rainbow provides everything you need for your cooking adventures. We offer quality utensils, stainless steel pots, cast-iron pans, Dutch ovens, cutting boards, and kitchen tools.

If your goal is to branch out and cook unusual or more complicated meals, we have sushi rollers, baking pans for every confection, juicers, seed sprouting kits, yogurt makers and other specialized implements. We also have a unique selection of imported gift items—such as our stylish English teapots, Japanese sushi plates, and beautiful handmade linens.

Rainbow’s Packaged Foods Department allows for the convenience of buying pre-packed food without being hindered by products that contain any preservatives, artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, or hydrogenated oils—and we tend to favor organic and whole food when available. Our raw foods section is extremely popular and our chocolate selection promotes both local and international makers. With our huge array of pastas and sauces, over a hundred types of olive oil—both local and imported—gourmet tapenades, organic cereals, juices, nut butters, jams, and everything you could ever want to bake with, the Package Foods Department has your shopping list covered!

Our Produce Department at Rainbow supports local independent farmers whenever possible and is committed to promoting sustainable agriculture and biodiversity. We take great pride in carrying exclusively organic produce. We clearly mark all of our signs so that you can tell at a glance what kind of produce you are getting, where it originated from, and the name of the farm if available.

Rainbow’s Sundries Department is responsible for stocking most all consumable household and pet goods, meaning anything you might use in your home that needs regular restocking. We have a wide selection of earth-friendly laundry, dish, and cleaning products and supplies; compost pails and biodegradable trash bags; natural and organic pet foods, treats, supplements, and grooming supplies… and so much more!

Sundries is also responsible for our Gardening section, stocking a wonderful selection of organic botanical and herb seeds, as well as mushroom-growing kits. We stock soil, biodynamic compost, and other planting mediums, natural fertilizers and pest control, plus various gardening tools.

Rainbow’s Vitamins & Supplements Department stocks more than 8,000 items, including
